The Andhra Pradesh bandh called by the Left parties on Friday to oppose the privatisation of the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), evoked a moderate response, even as the ruling YSR Congress and other major parties, barring the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Jana Sena combine, extended support.
Stray incidents were reported from different places in the State but overall the bandh ended peacefully, police sources here said.

200 buses arranged to transport polling staff: SP
Officials from the Revenue, Police, APSRTC and other departments have made foolproof security arrangements for the smooth conduct of fourth phase of gram panchayat elections in West Godavari district.
Polling will be conducted for 237 panchayats and 2,159 wards in 12 mandals on Sunday. Collector Revu Mutyala Raju and Election Observer Lathkar Shrikesh Balaji Rao and Election Expenditure Observer C. Selvam reviewed the arrangements on Saturday.

Kadapa: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (RTC) will offer a 10 percent discount on fares booked 48 hours before boarding of Dolphin, Amravati, Indra, Super Luxury, Ultra Deluxe, and Express buses.
This was stated by Jitendranath Reddy, Regional Manager, RTC. He told reporters on Friday that the concession would be applicable only to passengers traveling to Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore.
Reservations must be made 48 hours in advance to receive the discount. He said only the first four seats would be discounted. If the Dolphin bus has a capacity of 58 seats, the discount is applicable for five seats only. And the Amravati bus has a capacity of 49 seats, so only five seats will be discounted.
