Visakhapatnam: While the dynamic Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was making efforts to make Visakhapatnam the executive capital of Andhra Pradesh, the Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu was trying to stall it by hook or crook, YSR Congress Party Rajya Sabha member and north Andhra representative of the party and MP V Vijayasai Reddy has observed.“The people here are peace-loving and Vizag will be made executive capital for sure,” he stated during a roadshow on Monday.
The city is home to some reputed Central and State educational institutions of the state namely Andhra University (AU), Andhra Medical College (AMC), Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Indian Institute of Petroleum and Energy (IIPE), Damodaram Sanjivayya National Law University (DSNLU), IndianMaritime University (IMU), National Institute of Oceanography, India.

Rallies, meetings mark Women’s Day in city
Meetings and rallies to highlight the achievements of women, calls for giving importance to women and treating them with respect and felicitation of women achievers marked International Women’s Day celebrations at various places in the city on Monday.
A human chain was formed by women employees of LIC in front of the LIC Divisional Office. They raised slogans on ‘Women empowerment’ and against ‘listing of LIC in the stock market’. T. Sunanda, convener of the coordination committee, addressed the women employees.

The third phase of COVID-19 vaccination is evoking enthusiastic response from the public with around 4,000 persons getting vaccinated, on an average every day, since the third round began in Visakhapatnam district on March 1.
Healthcare workers and frontline warriors like doctors and police personnel were vaccinated in the first two phases. The response was, however, lukewarm in the two phases with reports of reactions and a few deaths at different places in the country. Visakhapatnam city and district have, however, not recorded any adverse reactions due to COVID-19 vaccination, except mild reactions in a couple of cases in the initial days.

TDP national president N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday urged the Centre to drop its plan to privatise Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL), the corporate entity of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP), as it was achieved through a long drawn struggle by the Telugu people, who, back in 1960, had united for the cause with the slogan ‘Visakha Ukku Andhrula Hakku’ (Vizag steel is the right of Andhraites).
