SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have issued a detailed statement about the wee-hour encounter in which three militants were killed. The encounter took place in Sheikhpora village near Vailoo.

“Today at about 0400hrs, Anantnag Police while acting on specific input regarding presence of three terrorists in a residential house at village Sheikhpora, Vailoo area of Kokernag, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police, 19RR and CRPF in the said area.

South Kashmir s Anantnag district on Tuesday have been identified, police said.
Police in a statement said that Anantnag Police while acting on specific input regarding presence of three terrorists in a residential house at village Sheikhpora, Vailoo area of Kokernag, a joint cordon and search operation was launched by Police,
Army s 19 RR and CRPF.
During the search operation, as the presence of terrorists got ascertained they were given an opportunity to surrender, however they fired indiscriminately upon the joint search party which was retaliated leading to an encounter.

Anantnag (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], May 1 (ANI): A cop sustained injuries as terrorists opened fire on a police party near Lazibal in Anantnag on Saturday, informed the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

At about 1820 hours, while Police party was getting close for the shift to be replaced by another party for Covid Lockdown duty, near LazibalAnantnag, terrorists opened fire on police party. One policeman received minor injuries. Fire was retaliated. Area sealed, search launched , tweeted Anantnag Police.
The two terrorists who were killed in an encounter with police and army in the Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday were given an opportunity to surrender but they indiscriminately fired upon the security forces that led to the gun .

In the video shared by the police, some thousand odd bottles of what looks like cough syrup were placed in unsuspecting grocery bag like packaging and hidden in a several feet deep ground hole.
