Commencement Date For Double Decker Demolition Still In The Air

There is still no definite date for the start of demolition for the historic West indies Oil Company (WIOC) Double Decker stand.
The Minister of Sports, Daryll Matthew had previously announced that the Double Decker Stand is to be dismantled beginning in April but with 20 days in there is still no specific date that has been identified.
The vendors will be placed north of the Government Printery in the green space next to the CWI ticket booth.
After the demolition, the newly-created space in the Antigua Recreation Grounds will remain open for a short time before re-construction commences.

ABFA Has Not Neglected ARG, Says Gonsalves

President of the Antigua and Barbuda Football Association (ABFA),
Everton Gonsalves, has sought to rebuff claims that the body neglected its obligation to maintain the playing surface at the historic Antigua Recreation Grounds (ARG) in accordance with a lease they signed with government almost 10 years ago.
Speaking on the Connecting with Dave Lester Payne show on Monday, Gonsalves said a number of invasive weeds and other unwanted plants seen growing amongst overgrown grass in a recent video, were as a result as fresh attempts to repair the surface at the facility that has deteriorated over the years.
YASCO track certification could be done as early as next week says local track president

The certification of the track at YASCO is now in its final stages and could possibly be complete as soon as next week.
This is according to President of the Antigua and Barbuda Athletics Association (ABAA) Everton ‘Mano’ Cornelius who was speaking on the
Good Morning JoJo Sports show on the matter.
He shared that the marking of the lanes is basically complete and that the next task will be to identify and mark the various distances, and that the only hold-up is the acquisition and implementation of two key pieces of equipment to the track.
