REVEALED: 39 wild and dangerous animals kept in Wychavon

WYCHAVON is a hotbed for exotic snakes and wild cats with 39 dangerous animals licenced across the region. A survey by Born Free – a charity advocating wild animal welfare – showed 3,951 dangerous wild animals are licenced to be kept privately in Great Britain. A total of 210 private addresses across 129 local authorities hold licences to keep dangerous wild animals such as lions, tigers, crocodilians and venomous reptiles – and that is not accounting for those who are not licensed. The data is split by council patches due to the fact licences are issued by local authorities. Worcester City Council has dished out none, nor has Malvern Hills District Council, and a spokesperson for Wychavon District Council confirmed the animals are indeed kept by private individuals or premises under three licences under the Dangerous Wild Animals Act 1976.
