That’s 1 percent of the state’s population. Before December, during the rest of the pandemic, 6 percent of Alabamians had tested positive for the virus. Data from the Alabama Department of Public Health shows 60 of Alabama’s 67 counties have seen at least 1 percent of their populations test positive so far this month.
