OMAHA - The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa Health Care System has expanded its veterans COVID-19 vaccination efforts to more veterans at its Omaha, Grand Island and Lincoln VA medical facilities, as well as its upcoming outreach efforts throughout the Nebraska and Western Iowa region. Effective immediately, VA NWIHCS clinics are now open to eligible veterans of all ages. The only stipulation is that veterans interested in receiving the COVID-19 vaccination must be eligible to receive VA health care. National services of screening newborns for hearing expanded  03 Mar 2021 - 21:01 Dr. Khalid A.Hadi By Fazeena Saleem / The Peninsula DOHA: With an aim to enhance the National Center for Early Detection of Hearing Loss (NPEDHL), screening services of newborns has been expanded to the Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) said a senior official.   Also at present babies are screened for hearing once instead of the previous practice of two screenings, said National Lead of Health and well-being for people with Special Needs, Dr. Khalid A.Hadi. “In place of testing the babies twice; first after birth before hospital discharge and second at 2 to 3 months of age with one physiological test (OAE), it has been changed to test once at 2 to 3 months of age with the first vaccination with two physiological tests (OAE and AABR),” said Dr Hadi.

Norman Regional HealthPlex expansion plans approved by City Council

Photo Provided Norman Regional Health Systems will soon kick off a series of five expansion and renovation projects on three different sites in an effort to expand its outreach and better serve patients. Norman City Council voted unanimously to approve Norman Regional’s plan to expand its HealthPlex hospital at last Tuesday’s meeting. The first of a series of projects in the Inspire Health plan is slated to begin in May, according to Norman Regional Health System president and CEO Richie Splitt. The plan will begin in May with the construction of Norman Regional Nine, a freestanding Emergency Department in southeast Norman at 24th Avenue SE and Highway 9. Splitt said the project is more than an emergency department staffed by physicians.
