EU airs concern over the killing of 9 activists

Published March 10, 2021, 10:53 PM The European Union (EU) Delegation to the Philippines on Wednesday joined the international community in expressing its concern over the recent killing of nine activists in simultaneous police and military operations in the Calabarzon region. In a statement, the EU welcomed the announcement made by the Philippine government to investigate the killings of the nine individuals by operatives of the Philippine National Police and the Armed Forces of the Philippines on March 7, 2021. “Reports on the use of excessive force against unarmed individuals and alleged irregularities in the law enforcement operations have raised concerns,” the EU said. The EU recalled the commitment made by the Philippines at the Human Rights Council to ensure accountability for human rights violations and abuses in accordance with due process under national courts of law, and in full compliance with its international human rights obligations.

BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya, Jan. 7 (PIA) - Governor Carlos Padilla said Metro Manila Development Authority Chairman Danny Lim is an inspiration for Novo Vizcayanos. He said Lim who is from Solano town with his family is one of Nueva Vizcaya’s prides. “It is an extremely sad day as Malacanang confirms the death of a very close and good friend and one of the province’s proud son,” he said. Lim’s sudden death at the age of 65 shocked Novo Vizcayanos in general. Padilla described Lim as a leader and a true down to earth and honest working man. “He will always be remembered for his principles and patriotism and his life story will forever remain as an inspiration for all Novo Vizcayanos”, he added.
