NEW DELHI: Studies are currently underway on whether there is a need for a Covid-19 booster dose, the Centre said on Thursday, and asserted that no vaccine can give 100 per cent protection from the virus.
Responding to a question on whether a booster dose is needed, NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr V K Paul said if there is a need, it will be communicated to the people.
In a vaccination campaign, we want to immunise everyone against a particular disease, he said. If there is a need for a booster dose it will be told. There are studies that are going on. Covaxin trial is going on whether it (booster dose) should be taken after six months or not, he said.

Bharat Biotech has agreed to allow other companies to manufacture its coronavirus vaccine Covaxin, informed NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr VK Paul. Addressing a press conference on the status of COVID-19 situation in the country on Thursday, Paul invited companies interested in joining the initiative to expand the production of Covaxin. People have asked that Covaxin be given to other companies for manufacturing. I am happy to say that Covaxin manufacturing company [Bharat Biotech] has welcomed this when we discussed it with them. Under this vaccine live virus is inactivated and this is done only in BSL3 labs, Paul said.

Bengaluru, Apr 7: Normal life was affected across Karnataka as the strike called by the workers of the road transport corporations brought to halt the operation of bus services, leaving commuters with no option but to pay hefty fares for alternative arrangements.
The state government threatened to invoke Essential Services Management Act (Esma) to force the employees back to work. However, officials on Wednesday were yet to issue any communication in this regard.
