The Board of Trustees elected Paul Alivisatos (A.B. ’81) as the 14th President of the University of Chicago. Joe Neubauer, chair of the Board of the Trustees, announced the decision this morning in an email to the university community.
Alivisatos currently serves as executive vice chancellor and provost at the University of California, Berkeley, a position he has held since 2017. Prior to that appointment, he held a number of positions at UC Berkeley, as well as the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WTVD) Fayetteville State University has a new chancellor
Darrell Allison, a longtime advocate of North Carolina s historically minority-serving institutions, will take over the role March 15. Darrell Allison is a creative leader who understands the value of Fayetteville State University to the community, the region, and the state, University of North Carolina System President Peter Hans said.
He ll be the university s 12th chancellor. Allison is currently vice president of governmental affairs and state teams at the American Federation for Children.
Allison succeeds Interim Chancellor Peggy Valentine,
who was appointed in July 2019 and previously served as dean of the School of Health Sciences at Winston-Salem State University.

CHICAGO (CBS) With Chicago still in a deep freeze, and more than a foot of snow already on the ground from a series of winter storms over the past couple weeks, many parts of Chicagoland have been blanketed with up to 18 inches of snow since Sunday.

CBS 2’s Mugo Odigwe is reporting live from the Mobile Weather Lab. Snow is creating dangerous driving conditions Tuesday. She said road signs and lanes are not visible in some areas, making it difficult for drivers to navigate the roads.

After nearly a year of heightened community need in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and other challenges, the University of Chicago will expand its annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service into a full week of virtual service projects and events starting on Jan. 17.
