Waterton raises $1.5 billion for latest value-added real estate fund

Waterton held a final close of its latest value-added real estate fund, Waterton Residential Property Venture XIV, reaching its hard cap of $1.5 billion.
The fund invests in multifamily properties in major U.S. markets. The firm has already deployed capital from the fund, including the acquisition of a four-property portfolio in the greater Atlanta area, a two-property portfolio in Hawaii and three assets in California.
Its predecessor fund, Waterton Residential Property Venture XIII, closed at $920 million in April 2018.

Gillian Tan (Bloomberg) Digital Colony, an arm of Colony Capital Inc., held a first close of more than $4.1 billion for its second fund dedicated to global communications-infrastructure investments, according to a memo sent to investors obtained by Bloomberg News.
Digital Colony, led by Colony Chief Executive Officer Marc Ganzi, is targeting $6 billion for the fund, the memo shows, confirming a Bloomberg report from May.
The second fund has formed three investment platforms, including one dubbed Edgepoint focused on acquiring Asia Pacific towers that’s helmed by the former Edotco Group Sdn Bhd. CEO Suresh Sidhu.

The investment committee of the $17.7 billion Orange County Employees Retirement System, Santa Ana, Calif., committed $255 million to three alternative investment funds.
OCERS invested $140 million to a global macro fund, Alpstone Global Macro Fund, managed by
Alpstone Capital, that will focus on discretionary global macro and relative value trading strategies. The fund had $1.9 billion as of Sept. 30.
OCERS also committed $75 million to Digital Colony Partners II, an infrastructure fund that would invest in data centers, cell towers and digital billboards, among other investments, managed by
