Florida reports 4,200 new coronavirus cases, 33 virus-related deaths Sarah Wilson © wftv.com Starting this week, researchers will begin testing one of the experimental COVID-19 vaccines on children, marking the first trial in the country to do so. Florida reported 4,200 new coronavirus cases on Monday. The latest cases bring the total number in the state since the pandemic began to 2,173,138. On Monday the state also reported an additional 33 virus-related deaths. Those deaths bring the state’s death toll to 35,142. Of the latest deaths, nine were reported in Central Florida. Four of those were reported in Orange County. The increases come as local and national health officials have reported increases in the number of COVID-19 cases among children.
