Village school plans to expand teaching space

A VILLAGE primary school is to expand its facilities to allow additional teaching space. Sherburn CE Primary School has submitted plans for the demolition of an existing classroom unit and building of a single-storey permanent double pre-fabricated classroom. The application, which has been made to Ryedale District Council, also includes a grass play area with canopy, two-metre high fencing and gate, along with the creation of footpaths, hedge removal, six wall-mounted external lights and fan coil units. Hard and soft landscaping works will also be carried out. Ian Taylor, executive head teacher of The Wolds and Vale Federation of Sherburn CE Primary and Luttons Community Primary, said: “We are delighted to announce that the school is in the final stages of increasing its capacity through a bespoke extension to the school building.
