STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. Registration for the city’s free Pre-K for All and 3-K for All programs for the 2021-2022 school year will open on Feb. 24.
The two programs, which provide free, full-day care and education, are part of a broader effort to create more high-quality early care and education programs for children from birth to 5 years old.
Any New York City resident can apply to Pre-K for All and 3-K for All, including those who move to the city during the admissions process, students with disabilities, students whose home language is a language other than English, and students in temporary housing.

To apply for kindergarten, your child must be a current New York City resident who was born in 2016.
In New York City, children enter kindergarten in the fall of the calendar year that they turn 5 years old, and they are guaranteed a seat at a public school. Once your child starts kindergarten, he or she can remain at the same school until its final elementary grade.
