Efforts under way to boost mango exports Minister says old marketing methods limit exports to high-end markets APP July 11, 2021 MULTAN: Federal Minister for Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam on Saturday said that efforts were being made to improve production and export of mango for strengthening the country’s economy. Speaking on the third day of the Mango Festival ceremony, Imam mentioned that mango production had stalled at 1.77 million ton for the last many years. He said that mango exports clocked-in at 110,000 ton in 2019, adding that it increased to 140,000 ton during 2020 despite Covid-19. The minister added that mango exports stood at about 5-7% of the total production, which should be increased.

Wed 26th May 2021 | 07:46 PM Minister for National Food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam on Wednesday said the Federal Government would provide certified wheat seed to Gilgit Baltistan in order to enhance its local output for reducing reliance on the Pakistan Agriculture Storage and Service Corporation ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 26th May, 2021 ) :Minister for National food Security and Research Syed Fakhar Imam on Wednesday said the FederalGovernment would provide certified wheat seed to Gilgit Baltistan in order to enhance its local output for reducing reliance on the PakistanAgriculture Storage and Service Corporation. Talking to GB Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, who called on him, he said the Federal Government would also help the GB Government to establish its own seed technology for developing seeds as according to its ecological requirements to promote agriculture in that areas.

Speaking on the occasion, Imam called for promoting bilateral trade and investment relations between Pakistan and South Africa. The minister also highlighted the export potential for processed mango from Pakistan to South Africa.
