Save Share Another serious breach of NSW s hotel quarantine program has sparked a new coronavirus cluster, with thousands who visited a bottle shop in Sydney s west over Christmas and New Year s being asked to self-isolate. NSW Chief Health Officer Kerry Chant is concerned by how easily the virus spread to a person at a Sydney bottle shop from an infected customer.  James Alcock NSW reported eight new local coronavirus cases in the 24 hours up to 8pm on Saturday, five of those linked to a Berala bottle shop in Sydney s west. Victoria had three new locally acquired cases, with the cluster associated with a Thai restaurant in Black Rock in Melbourne bringing the total number of infections linked to the restaurant to 21. There was a strong demand for tests across the state, leading to complaints about long queues.

It was Wednesday, December 16, and the hair-stylist left home and drove to Pronto Creative Foods, a popular Italian cafe on Barrenjoey Road. Stopping after 7.30am, the hairdresser then travelled 40km to inner suburban Sydney and one of its most fashionable strips, William Street in Paddington. There the person started work at Salon X, working on clients including a woman who worked at Alimentari Cafe, four doors down.
