NSW yesterday recorded 16 new Covid-19 cases- the lowest number since the 14-day lockdown was imposed on Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour.
It came after cases peaked on Saturday, with 35 locally acquired infections recorded. On Friday there were 31.
NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian said case numbers could still bounce around but Sunday s figures were where we want them to be .
However compliance with public health orders over the the coming days would be absolutely critical for whether the lockdown would end as planned at midnight on 9 July. It only takes one or two people not to do the right thing for things then to go up, she said.

NSW authorities have remained tight-lipped on the future of Greater Sydney’s coronavirus lockdown as 35 new local cases were recorded on Monday.
Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant said she could not comment on whether the stay at home order would be lifted at 11.59pm on Friday as planned.
“I m making no comment until I ve looked at all the data,” she said during Monday’s daily COVID press conference.
But now there are some concerns about whether the lockdown will end as intended on July 9.
NSW s Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant has refused to rule out extending it, saying she does not have enough data to make a recommendation on whether restrictions should ease at the end of the week. I m making no comment until I ve looked at all the data, Dr Chant said. Every day brings a new set of data and a new set of challenges and what we think in the morning can change in the afternoon. I m really pleased to see that we ve had some people come forward for testing over the weekend, which has allowed us to link unlinked cases and the more certainty we have that we have tracked down every single case of transmission, that really does provide us with a lot more confidence in advising government.
