KIEV, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) A total of 1,001,132 COVID-19 cases and 17,395 deaths were registered in Ukraine as of Thursday, while 631,435 patients have recovered, the country s health ministry reported.
In the past 24 hours, 11,490 people tested positive for the virus and 15,775 patients recovered from the disease, the ministry added.
Ukrainian Health Minister Maxym Stepanov said that Ukraine is negotiating within the framework of COVAX to increase the quota for the coronavirus vaccine from the previously approved 8 to 16 million doses.
On Dec. 9, the Ukrainian government decided to introduce a lockdown throughout Ukraine from Jan. 8 until Jan. 24, 2021.
Cafes, restaurants, and bars (except for deliveries and takeaways), non-food stores, cinemas, fitness clubs, gyms, theaters, and shopping centers will be closed during this period.
