The third phase of vaccination against the coronavirus is likely to commence in March and will cover 27 crore people aged 50 years and above and those with co-morbidities, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan said in Lok Sabha on Friday. Replying to questions on vaccines and the vaccination drive against the coronavirus during the Question Hour, Vardhan said nearly five million people have been inoculated in the country so far. He added that the vaccination drive for frontline workers has begun this week. In coming days, 27 crore people who are of above 50 years of age and those under 50 with co-morbidities will be vaccinated, Vardhan said.

In the third week of the Covid-19 inoculation programme, over 9,200 healthcare workers received coronavirus vaccine shots in the national capital on Friday, with a turnout of more than 50%.
As per reports, the Covid-19 vaccination will now begin for frontline workers too from Saturday onwards. Frontline workers include, police, civil defence staff, DJB and electricity department employees, among others.

New Delhi: India recorded 7,580 adverse events after COVID-19 vaccine drive and 12 deaths, not causally related to vaccination. All these events were reported till January 31, Health Minister Harsh Vardhan told Lok Sabha.
Harsh Vardhan gave this statement while responding to a question on the adverse side-effects of COVID-19 vaccines.
“These deaths were investigated and examined by the experts and as per current evidence none of these deaths have a causal relationship with COVID-19 vaccination,” he said in a written reply.
