Coronavirus cases in India: 261,500 reported in 24 hours
India reported its highest-ever single-day spike of 261,500 coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours. As per data on Sunday morning, India registered 1,501 deaths in the past day. With this, India s overall tally has reached 14,788,109 cases and the death toll has jumped to 177,150, as per the Union Ministry for Health and Family Welfare. The country has 18,01,316 active cases as of 9am on Sunday.

New Delhi: With the unprecedented surge in COVID-19 cases, the national capital is facing a shortage of beds as the daily positivity rate has jumped to 30 per cent, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told the media after reviewing the Covid situation here on Sunday.
“There is a shortage of ICU beds in Delhi. At present less than one hundred ICU beds are available in Delhi. There is a shortage of oxygen too,” Kejriwal said.

The Delhi Chief Minister has appealed to the Centre for more beds for Covid-19 patients and additional help during the second wave of the pandemic.
India has recorded the biggest single-day spike of over 2.61 lakh Covid-19 cases, pushing the country's tally to 1.47 crore, according to the Union health ministry.
