As India gears up for the coronavirus vaccine, speculations are rife regarding who will foot the bill for the inoculation of 130 crore Indians. Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan who was visiting the Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital in Delhi to review the COVID-19 vaccine dry run said that the vaccine would be free for the entire country . This comes a day after Niti Aayog member and COVID-19 task force head Dr Vinod Paul said that the government would pitch in for the vaccination of 30 crore priority people and not the entire country.

A mock drill on COVID19 vaccine administration was held in all states & Union Territories at 286 session sites spread across 125 districts. Around 1,14,100 vaccinators were trained. More than 75 lakhs beneficiaries have been registered on Co-WIN software till date: Govt of India.

New Delhi [India], January 2 (ANI): With an expert panel of Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) recommending grant of restricted emergency use authorisation to Bharat Biotech s indigenously developed COVID-19 vaccine on Saturday, doctors said it was a good development as the vaccine is the only alternative fight the disease.
Dr Ravi Malik, Director of Radix Hospital, said two vaccines have been recommended for emergency use authorisation. It is a historic day for our country that the two vaccine players have been recommended for restricted emergency use for the COVID vaccine. It is a great development because vaccine is the only alternative fight with this kind of disease, Dr Malik told ANI.

The dry run for COVID-19 vaccine is being carried out in as many as 116 districts across 259 sites in the country to test operational feasibility.

In its bid to be ready for the COVID-19 vaccination drive as soon as vaccines are available, India is carrying out a nationwide vaccine dry run today (January 2). It can be seen as a trial run before the actual vaccination begins. Different states and union territories all over the country have prepared to test the operational feasibility required for vaccination through this drive. A trial run was earlier conducted in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, and Assam on December 28 and 29.
