LAHORE:Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has announced in principle gradually expanding the scope of vaccination centres in the province. Chairing a meeting to review corona situation, the CM said Rs1.5 billion was being allocated for procurement of more than one million doses of corona vaccine.
The government is striving hard to save the citizens from coronavirus and many steps will also be taken in this regard, he added. With the start of the PKLI vaccination centre, the number of such facilities will be increased to three in Lahore, he said.
Meanwhile, the registration of quinquagenarian has been started as the eligible persons are registering themselves by sending their CNIC numbers to 1166. The Punjab government is also in contact with the federal government for ensuring the availability of oxygen in hospitals for corona patients and there will be no shortage of oxygen for this purpose, the CM assured.

LAHORE: Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid chaired a cabinet meeting on dengue prevention at the Darbar Hall of the Civil Secretariat here on Monday. The minister reviewed the arrangements for the control of dengue.
The minister said, “All suspected patients are tested as part of surveillance. If symptoms appear, people may contact 1033. Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners must personally supervise and monitor the dashboard of dengue themselves. Adequate medicines are available in government hospitals.
The surveillance teams must take action after identification of the hotspots to eliminate dengue larva. Awareness about dengue is being given on helpline. DEAG recommendations must be implemented. I urge all people to take precautionary measure and implement dengue SOPs. The surveillance teams must be immediately mobilised to eliminate dengue larva across the province.

LAHORE: Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid ordered the suspension of Medical Superintendant District Headquarters Hospital Okara Dr Shahid Salim here on Saturday.
The Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department issued orders of suspension of the MS DHQ Hospital under PEEDA Act. The MS has been asked to report to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department. The MS has been suspended over poor performance and inadequate health facilities at the hospital.
The minister said, “Action will be taken against MS in case of unavailability of essential medicines and the inadequate facilities at hospitals. The unavailability of basic services is unacceptable. The government is trying to increase the capacity and performance of public sector hospitals. The shortage of doctors and staff is being fulfilled.
