Some Eligible Sask Residents Say They re Having Issues Trying to Book Vaccine Appointments | GX94 Radio

By Ryan Young Apr 30, 2021 6:28 PM New priority groups were added to the eligible COVID-19 vaccination list, but not everyone has had success so far in booking or finding an appointment. Some Saskatchewan residents in the new priority groups have voiced their problems trying to book appointments now that they are eligible as of Friday. Issues include not being able to book online, having to wait for a callback from the Saskatchewan Health Authority or having to wait for supervisors to contact them for vaccination opportunities. Taking questions following question period on Friday in the Saskatchewan Legislative Building, Health Minister Paul Merriman admitted it is a bit of a process, but they want to ensure the right people are getting into vaccination appointments and clinics at the right time. He asked residents to be patient.

Good economic news amidst the COVID gloom

The good COVID-19 news is vaccinations in Saskatchewan surpassed 400,000 shots last week. Premier Scott Moe is right: vaccines are our best chance to get out of this pandemic mess. The less-than-good-news, however, is Regina intensive care units remain full and the new variants are spreading to Saskatoon and elsewhere. To their credit, Moe and Health Minister Paul Merriman delivered a stronger message to anti-mask, anti-lockdown rallies in cities and smaller centres like Maple Creek, stating that any such gatherings break public health orders and slow down our ability to get through this pandemic. But how he can more quickly get through all of this as we administer the first shot to everyone during the coming months continues to be a huge source of debate and contention.
