Health Minister Robin Swann has said a huge collective effort has brought Northern Ireland to the point where COVID-19 restrictions can be significantly eased.
And he has called for that commitment to be maintained to ensure infections do not start surging again.
The Minister said: “While necessary, COVID-19 restrictions have undoubtedly taken a massive toll on our community. Today will be an emotional day as we ease restrictions that have been extremely tough on families and businesses.

The Community Crisis Intervention Service is based at the Holywell Trust building on Bishop Street from 8pm on Thursday to 8am on Sundays

Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan has launched a petition to calling on the Health Minister to save the Community Crisis Intervention Service (CCIS) in Derry.
CCIS provides a ‘safe space’ for those in crisis when many other services are not operational, and is run by Extern NI from the Holywell Building on Bishop Street.

Health Minister Robin Swann has said he has been unable to arrange a meeting with his southern counterpart to discuss Covid-19, for two weeks.
Robin Swann said he had asked for a meeting with Stephen Donnelly more than two weeks ago, to discuss Covid-19 and cross-border travel.
He said health officials remain concerned about infection rates in the Republic of Ireland and the slower level of vaccination, but said he hoped the south would catch up.
