Covid-19: Delta variant and reopening will drive infection levels By Mike Gilmore
The more we open the more likely we are to see rising rates of infection of Covid-19.
That s the warning from RCSI senior lecturer, Eoghan De Barra, as social mixing increases with the lifting of restrictions.
The numbers in hospital are steadily rising with the emergence of the delta variant, up six to 58 according to yesterday s figures from the Department of Health.
Mr De Barra is hopeful that with steady levels of vaccination that hospitalisations aren t as severe. I think we re really breaking ourselves to really see what the actual conversion rate to hospital is with the relationship of vaccination in the population and the variants.
