Assam: New SOP issued by Education ministry for reopening schools in new year
The State education department issued new Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for reopening of schools from January 1, as per earlier decisions of the government.

Guwahati: A comprehensive set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) has been issued by the Assam government as schools in the state prepare to reopen from January 1. The SOP dated December 28 contains detailed guidelines on the measures to be taken by educational institutions, students and guardians while going back to schools and colleges in the new year.
According to the SOP, lower primary schools will open for classes on alternate days for all classes from I to V. The SOP further mandates the issued guidelines for government and private institutions equally. It states that schools will open at 9 AM and end at 1.45 PM. Mid-day meals in government schools is also mentioned to be provided between 12.15 to 12.

Guwahati: Over five thousand COVID-19 Safai Karmi (cleaning staffs) on Tuesday observed hunger strike against the government and the Health department s indifferent attitude towards the COVID-19 warriors at Sasal area in Guwahati.
A protester Safai Karmi said that they are bound to hold this strike as during the COVID pandemic the Health Department of Assam appointed them as Lab Technicians, ward boys, and cleaning staff promising a lot, but then did not deliver any of those.

Guwahati, Dec 26 : Union Home Minister and senior BJP leader Amit Shah on Saturday appreciated the Assam government and the Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma for “exceptional Covid-19 management” in the state.
“Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s performance in Covid-19 performance is exceptionally good,” Shah said while addressing a public meeting at Amingaon Parade Ground here.
“The 0.47 per cent mortality rate (due to Covid-19) in Assam is lowest in the world. It is also exceptional that over 98 per cent people have returned to their homes after recoveries,” the visiting Home Minister said.

Amit Shah reaches Guwahati to kick start BJP s Assembly poll campaign
