The opposition parties alleged that the negligence by the government led to the loss of lives due to disruption in supply of oxygen at the SVR Ruia Government General Hospital on Monday night.
TDP former MLA M. Sugunamma said lack of technical knowledge and and coordination had led to the unfortunate incident. “It is time the government came up with a strategy statement on tackling the pandemic, especially when the demand for beds with oxygen supply facilities is rising exponentially,” she said.

Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Thursday instructed the officials to increase the availability of beds for treating COVID patients and to provide 50% of the beds to Aarogyasri patients in the YSR Aarogyasri-empanelled hospitals and non-empanelled hospitals notified by the District Collectors.
In a review meeting on COVID and vaccination, Mr. Jagan said COVID treatment should be provided free of cost in all the empanelled hospitals and there should be clarity on the beds available in Aarogyasri hospitals. He wanted COVID Care Centres to be set up near all COVID hospitals.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Health Alla Kali Krishna Srinivas has asked District Collectors to ensure that no patient is turned away from hospitals citing insufficient beds.
During a video conference with Collectors of seven most affected districts, the Minister asked them to ensure that bed strength was increased in both hospitals and COVID Care Centres.
“Please ensure that the results of RT-PCR tests are released within 24 hours. The functioning of the 104 call centre should be monitored daily. The COVID Care Centres should be set up with support from local communities and ensure that people moved to CCC feel at home,” said the Minister.

Officials told told to set up oxygen plants in hospitals
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has directed officials to increase the number of beds in COVID hospitals and arrange 3,000 beds, including 1,000 oxygen beds, in COVID Care Centres in every district and to set up the required oxygen manufacturing plants and oxygen tanks at hospitals.
Speaking at a review meeting on COVID at his camp office on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the rates paid to empanelled private hospitals for COVID treatment could be increased and the same could be made applicable to Aarogyasri hospitals.
