First doses of Moderna vaccine arrive in area

December 23, 2020 John Adams, LCHD Public Health Emergency Preparedness (PHEP)/ Communicable Disease (CD) Coordinator, drawing up the first COVID-19 vaccine in Livingston County – Photo LCHD PONTIAC – The Livingston County Health Department received the first doses of the new COVID-19 vaccine on Wednesday from Moderna. Phase 1A of vaccine distribution is now underway, making sure the vaccine is available for healthcare providers and EMS workers. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorized the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine last Friday, becoming the second option available after the approval of the Pfizer vaccine earlier this month.  On December 23, the day the first doses were received, 54 eligible Livingston County residents received the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine at the LCHD.
