NWRHA to double its vaccination sites

In light of growing public acceptance and demand for COVID-19 vaccines, the North West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) plans to double the number of its vaccination sites. This is according to its Chief Executive Officer Salisha Baksh during a Ministry of Health virtual press conference on Monday.
There are currently two sites under the NWRHA, the Barataria and the Diego Martin Health Centres, however, the authority plans to now include the Morvant and Carenage Health Centres.

The announcement by the Tobago Regional Health Authority (TRHA) that it is allowing anyone over the age of 18 to take the COVID-19 vaccine raises more questions than answers, and issues of vaccine inequality.
Only yesterday, this newspaper carried a story of Assemblyman Kelvon Morris announcing on social media that he was due to take the vaccine and that several other young people from the communications unit of the Division of Health Wellness and Family Services had already gotten vaccinated before seniors and frontline workers on the island.

RISHI RAGOONATH The Opposition United National Congress is demanding a full probe into yesterday’s explosion at the NiQuan Energy (Gas-to-Liquids) plant.
“Ministers of Energy and Labour Franklin Khan and Stephen McClashie must launch an immediate investigation through the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) and must ensure there’s a full suspension of all activities,” said Opposition MP Rudy Indarsingh following the early morning explosion.
