Maybe a silver lining can be found from the COVID-19 pandemic, as interest in public health education is soaring at U.S. colleges and universities, says a nationally prominent public health professor.

Consumer leadership for better health
There is no better time than now for the Federal Government to support the development of consumer leadership in the health system, the Consumers Health Forum said today.
In its submission for the 2021-22 Federal Budget, CHF has urged Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg, to support the establishment of an independently-governed health consumer leadership academy.
“Consumer leadership in health is more important than ever in the COVID era when every Australian is both at risk and can play a part in countering the pandemic,” the CEO of CHF, Leanne Wells, said today.
“There is a growing acceptance that people-centred care leads to improved outcomes and a more efficient health system.

Doha: The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) and the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean organised a virtual workshop to introduce the Healthy City Programme and launch the Healthy City Network of Qatar.
The Healthy City network serves to mobilise different sectors and civil society at the national and local levels for health and wellbeing and provide all necessary technical assistance for briefing policy-makers about needs and evidence.
The Network members include stakeholders from various sectors, including primarily governmental entities but also non-governmental and private institutions.

The Academy believes that all people should attain the highest level of health. This includes the capacity to heal and to function within the contexts of family, community, and environment. Numerous social, genetic, and environmental factors influence health to varying degrees, and an individual s health is not measured simply by the absence of disease. Unfortunately, research clearly shows and documents the greater burdens of illness, disease, and death experienced by racial and ethnic minorities in this country.
The AAFP supports Health in All Policies as a strategy to improve population health and advance health equity and has developed a toolkit for physicians through the EveryONE Project.
