The term vaccine hunters is new, but so is everything in this pandemic. Suffice it to say that when I first heard the term, my imagination ran wild! I immediately pictured people or groups of people who could help connect vulnerable people, like the elderly, with information about the vaccines and appointments, they would even try to help them navigate the sometimes confusing appointment system. I was wrong. Apparently, a vaccine hunter is someone who just shows up to a vaccination site at the end of the day, with no appointment set, and really no well thought out plan, in hopes of scoring a vaccine that may have been unused. So, there s your COVID-19 term for the day!

COVID Vaccine Dose 1 & 2 Should Be of The Same Brand In a statement that I didn t think needed to be made, the CDC is saying that the second dose of the COViD-19 vaccine should definitely be of the same brand of the first dose of the vaccine. For instance, if you receive the Pfizer vaccine as your first dose, you should definitely get the Pfizer vaccine as your second dose. However, the CDC has quietly changed their guidelines to say it is okay to mix and match the shots but ONLY in exceptional situations . However, the CDC is advising that every effort should be made to ensure that a patient receives the SAME brand of vaccine the second time around. An example of a rare or exceptional situation , according to the CDC guidance, would be if supplies are limited or the patient doesn’t know which vaccine they originally received.

We were told at the beginning of the year they wanted to wait until the Martin Luther King holiday to decide whether or not they would reopen schools. The reasoning behind this was to see if there was a spike in cases from the holidays. As the numbers continue to go up, schools did open and they will remain open.
