Two arrested in Bahrain for providing medical services without license | THE DAILY TRIBUNE

Police arrested a man and a woman for practising medical services without a licence. The Director-General of the General Directorate of Criminal Investigations and Forensic Evidence (CID) said the CID police, in cooperation with the Health Regulatory Authority, caught the suspects. The suspects are a 43-yearold man and 34-year-old woman. Authorities have withheld the names and nationality of the suspects. Police acting on a tip-off launched an investigation, resulting in the identification and arrest of the suspects. Investigators also seized medical equipment found in their possession. Former LMHRA boss, Dr. David Sumo The former Managing Director of the Liberia Medicine and Health Regulatory Authority (LMHRA) Dr. David Sumo, has flagged out the danger of proliferation of street sale caffeinated energy drinks and called for strict regulation by the Government through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. “These days, our streets are flooded with the increasing wave of unregulated street selling of caffeinated energy drinks, young boys and girls are usually seen between and among moving vehicles and the sidewalks with varieties of brands of Energy Drinks for sale,” Dr. Sumo said. According to him, it is a deadly potential weapon that, if left to thrive in the population unregulated as it currently is, there will be a continued loss of precious lives of very important members of the society.

Paraytec has acquired purified SARS-CoV2 virus which it will use to optimise both the lower limit and speed of detection, with the aim of detecting the virus in asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic patients. Ethical approval has been obtained from the Sheffield Hospitals Trust to test up to 500 clinical samples, which will be verified using the gold standard PCR approach to demonstrate the performance characteristics of the Covid-19 test. The first results of this work are expected by the end of January 2021. Braveheart notes the recent discussions in the media regarding the underperformance of a range of single-use testing (lateral flow) devices, which are being trialled throughout the UK.
