We are in peak time for health insurance renewals, with more than one million consumers due to renew their cover in the coming months.
With this in mind, the Health Insurance Authority (HIA) is encouraging consumers to review their health insurance policy before they renew, warning that people could miss out on significant savings if they fail to do so.
With the VHI unveiling another refund for its customers, 2020 is shaping up to be a year to forget for the State-owned private health insurance provider.
Last Monday VHI announced that it was refunding €75 to every insured adult and €25 to every insured child next month. The refund is due to the lower level of claims experienced by the health insurer due to the disruption to the health system as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This is the second Covid-19 refund from VHI. It knocked an average of 50pc off premiums for three months at the time of the first lockdown last spring.
