The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has approved the continuation of the Low-Income Pool program in Florida until June 30, 2030.
The Low Income Pool was created with the approval of the 1115 Research and Demonstration Waiver in 2005. The program supplements Florida with additional Medicaid funding from the federal government every year. Florida can receive up to $1.5 billion in funding every year. The state received $954 million in the 2019-2020 fiscal year. The full allocation has never been used.
“LIP funding provides critical support to Florida health care providers that serve our most vulnerable,” said Gov. DeSantis. “Continuing this essential program means Floridians will have access to quality health care when they need it.”

Twenty-four hours before President Joe Biden and Vice-President Kamala Harris assume office, am reminded of the Summer of 2016, the last of the Democratic party’s last stint where we happened to bump into one of President Barrack Obama’s cabinet membe
