Oklahoman
Health officials said this week they’re determined to reach Oklahomans who have yet to get a COVID-19 shot, even as the state’s vaccination rates have stagnated.
This week, Oklahoma hit the 3 million dose mark, about a week and a half past its Memorial Day goal.
So far, about 54% of Oklahoma’s adult population has had at least a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. But surveys the state has done indicate Oklahoma should eventually be able to reach 65%, Deputy Commissioner of Health Keith Reed said this week.
“We’re not giving up,” he said.
At the beginning of the state’s vaccination drive, Oklahoma consistently ranked among the top states for vaccine distribution. But in recent weeks, Oklahoma has hovered just above the bottom 10 states in the percentage of residents who have been vaccinated.
