DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said that of the 12 crew members, two are currently in critical condition.
The cargo ship was allowed to dock in Manila on May 6. A total of 21 Filipino crew members were on the ship.
“They were coordinating with us and they were appealing na ipadaong ang barko dahil kailangan ng tulong nung dalawang crew member (to let the ship dock because the two crew members needed help). So what we did, we accommodated. They were allowed to dock,” said Vergeire in a press briefing.
In a separate statement, the DOH said that the two crew members who were in critical condition were “transferred to a hospital in Metro Manila.”

MANILA – Filipino health workers commemorated their day through a motorcade to reiterate calls for the upholding of their rights and welfare protection more than a year after the pandemic broke.

Updated May 7, 2021 10:15am The flight carrying the largest shipment of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine so far arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) on Friday morning, according to GMA News Ian Cruz. The Cebu Pacific flight was carrying 1.5 million doses of Sinovac s vaccine that were purchased by the Philippine government. In a statement, Cebu Pacific said the shipment, which came from China, arrived at NAIA via Flight 5J 671 at 8:13 a.m. Upon unloading from Cebu Pacific s A330 aircraft, all vaccines were thoroughly inspected by the authorities prior to uplifting to refrigerated trucks via electric forklifts. A report by Bam Alegre on Unang Balita said the shipment would be welcomed by Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr.

On Healthcare Workers Day, Senator Risa Hontiveros pressed Health Secretary Francisco Duque III to fully explain the year-long delay of hazard pay for healthcare workers and the continuously deteriorating work environment more than a year into the pandemic.
Hontiveros backed health workers union groups, saying that, more than words of gratitude , the government should once and for all commit to improving the work conditions of health workers. She said this should come in the form of periodic COVID-19 testing, immune boosters, free PPEs, and continuous hiring of health workers.
