Australia is now going with the Pfizer vaccine for under-50s based on the recommendation from ATAGI.

On Thursday evening, Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Health Secretary Brendan Murphy announced that Australia was diverging from its plan to use the AstraZeneca vaccine for the bulk of the population.
In doing so they said that Australians under 50 would no longer receive that vaccine, but the Pfizer one, less than 24 hours after the UK announced similar measures for citizens under 30 years of age.

Department of Health Secretary Brendan Murphy says healthcare workers under 50 will be prioritised to receive the Pfizer vaccine following a revision of advice on the AstraZeneca vaccine linked to blood clots.
“We now feel that, out of an abundance of caution, given that this syndrome seems to occur mainly in younger people for whom the risk of severe COVID-19 is not so great - that there is a basis to have a preferred recommendation for those under 50, he said.
“For Phase 1, which is vulnerable people, we will pretty much continue as we are. Those over 70 and 80 will continue to get AstraZeneca at their GPs and be confident in its efficacy and its safety.
