New Delhi [India], April 27 (ANI): Days after AIIMS said that only the symptomatic health care workers will be tested for COVID-19, only those testing positive will be isolated and the quarantine of asymptomatic contacts will be discontinued, the Indian Medical Associaton (IMA) on Tuesday expressed strong resentment towards the order and said that it shows unhumanitarian attitude towards the healthcare workers who work with dedication and sincerity, amidst valiant threat to their and their family members life with COVID, to rescue and safeguard human kind.

The Centre has shared new guidelines with the States and Union Territories (UTs) for effective implementation of the new vaccination strategy from May 1. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan and Chairman, Empowered Group on Technology and Data Management to combat COVID-19, Dr R S Sharma, chaired a meeting to guide the States and UTs on the implementation of the new vaccination strategy.
They also reviewed the States and UTs plans to strengthen the existing hospital and clinical treatment infrastructure for Covid patients. Sharma pointed out that the CoWIN platform has now stabilized and is working at scale flawlessly. It is equipped to handle the complexities of the new phase of vaccination starting from May 1. He highlighted the importance of uploading correct and timely data by States/UTs as any incorrect data would compromise the integrity of the entire system

Appointments and online registrations of citizens in the age group of 18 to 44 years is mandatory to get a coronavirus vaccine shot, the government said today and added that there will be no facility for walk-in registrations for this age group initially.
Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan, in a letter to his state counterparts, outlined the strategy and rules for the third phase of the vaccination drive.
Vaccination for everyone above 18 years of age will start from May 1. The government opened vaccinations for all adults amid a massive Covid surge in the second and more deadly wave of the coronavirus.

The Centre has said that citizens in the 18-44 years age group would be eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccination at any private vaccination centre, and would need to be registered on the CoWIN portal when they become eligible for the vaccine starting May 1.
In a letter to States on April 23, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan said: “Citizens in the age group of 18 years to 44 years shall be eligible to receive vaccination, on payment, from any of the private CVCs (Covid Vaccination Centres).”
