ISLAMABAD: The cabinet on Tuesday approved 15 per cent increase in the salary of military personnel, which is in addition to 10pc raise announced in the federal budget.
In another significant development, the cabinet endorsed the ban on Tehreek-i-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP).
Besides, the meeting, which was presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan, tasked the ministries of interior and law to chalk out a strategy to cope with the situation if Afghans sought refuge in Pakistan due to violence in their country.
No more protocol for retired judges, bureaucrats

ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet Tuesday decided that after detailed review, security of former rulers and retired judges and bureaucrats would also be reduced gradually.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Chaudhry Fawad Hussain said this during his briefing to the media on the cabinet meeting, presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan, and later replying to questions.
He said that as regards reduction in security detail, the opposition politicians, retired judges and former bureaucrats seemed to have been enjoying more security than the cabinet members. The standard operating procedures (SOPs) and rules regarding provision of official security and protocol to private individuals were being revisited, he added. ISLAMABAD: With all indicators regarding coronavirus continuously worsening and positivity of cases doubling in the country, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Monday hinted that armed forces might be deployed for implementation of the Covid-related standard operating procedures (SOPs).
He also said smart lockdown would be enforced across the country and movement to tourist places curtailed. “During the last few weeks Covid-19 cases and positivity ratio have increased. Our national average of positivity was at around two per cent but now it is touching 4pc. There are some reasons, including violation by people of the SOPs and Delta variant which is more virulent,” he said at a news conference.

ISLAMABAD: Just over 6,000 people reported to have experienced side effects of corona vaccination in the country.
