Pakistan
Wed, May 19, 2021
ISLAMABAD: A meeting of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) is underway, under the chair of Asad Umar, to decide on schools closure and whether or not restrictions on other sectors should be extended or relaxed.
All educational institutions, including schools, colleges and universities have been closed till May 23 across the country.
NCOC chief Asad Umar is presiding over the meeting while Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Health Dr Faisal Sultan, provincial chief secretaries and other members of authorities are taking part in the meeting as well.
ISLAMABAD: Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr Faisal Sultan on Tuesday urged people not to pay heed to rumours about the efficacy and side-effects of the Covid-19 vaccine being administered in the country.
Addressing a news conference, Dr Sultan said the number of cases was reducing and it was proof that people were following non-pharmaceutical interventions (NPIs).
“I want to thank people for following standard operating procedures (SOPs), and once again stress on wearing of masks and getting vaccinated. We have been procuring vaccines from different sources and an uninterrupted supply will be ensured,” the special assistant said.
