Education gets highest share of Rs 16K cr in Delhi budget

New Delhi, March 9 : The Delhi government on Tuesday allocated the highest share of Rs 16,377 crore to the education department, while the health sector was allocated Rs 9,934 crore, in its annual budget for FY 2021-22.
Out of the total estimated Budget of Rs 69,000 crore for the 2021-22 fiscal, the education department was allocated 25 per cent share and the health department 14 per cent share.
Finance Minister Manish Sisodia, who also holds the education portfolio in the Delhi government, said that under its new education system, the government will give more emphasis on critical learning for the students.
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday directed officials to finalise theHealth Information Management System (HIMS) project by the middle of this year and start distribution of e-health cards at the earliest. The chief minister reviewed works related to the HIMS project, e-health card and health helpline, along with Health minister Satyendar Jain and officials of the department. Apprising the chief ministeron the progress of the project, the Health department officials said the work is being done as per schedule, said a Delhi government statement. The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure that the work is completed within the stipulated deadline. He also instructed to ensure that the distribution of the health cards is started at the earliest, it said.
Govt. aims to implement HIMS in all government hospitals by August
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal conducted a review of the Health Information Management System (HIMS) project, which the government aims to implement in all government hospitals by August, on Thursday. Once implemented, the project will make Delhi the only State to have a cloud-based health management system, the government said.
Along with Health and Family Welfare Minister Satyendar Jain, the Chief Minister took stock of the progress of the e-health card, and health helpline projects as well. He also directed the officials to ensure that the work is completed within the stipulated deadline so that the distribution of health cards could be started at the earliest.
