At Least 12 Killed, 43 Wounded In Weekend Shootings Across Chicago

CHICAGO (CBS) At least 55 people were shot across Chicago over the weekend, 12 of them fatally, including a 15-year-old boy who was shot in the head on the front porch of a home in Lawndale, and three double homicides.
Dajon Gater, 15, was on the front porch of a home in the 3900 block of West Lexington Street around 11:50 p.m. Friday, when two people approached him, pulled out guns, and started shooting, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
He was rushed to the Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition but died a few hours later.

The 71-year-old man slipped and fell while walking on the CTA Red Line Platform at the Loyola station at 1200 W. Loyola Ave. around 8:30 p.m., on Thursday, CBS News Chicago reported.
A Chicago man died in a freak accident while commuting when he fell and his head was reportedly struck by an oncoming train as it was entering the station platform, according to a report.
The 71-year-old man slipped and fell while walking on the CTA Red Line Platform at the Loyola station at 1200 W. Loyola Ave. around 8:30 p.m., on Thursday. Police said the man had stumbled and fell against an advertisement sign, and then fell to the ground. His head ended up over the edge of the platform, CBS News Chicago reported.
