The Sackville Memorial Hospital will eliminate overnight service at its Emergency Department every weekend this Summer, as a result of New Brunswick’s ongoing nursing shortage.
Horizon Health Network announced that the temporary closures will occur every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 4 p.m. until 8 a.m. The changes will begin on June 10 and will continue through to September, with no date set for a return to full service.
The facility will continue to offer around-the-clock service from 8 a.m. Monday until 4 p.m. Friday.
As a result, those who need care will be forced to travel to another hospital, while all ambulances will be diverted.

Australian Medical Association
As well as calling for expressions of interest for general practices wanting to be involved in the next stage of the vaccination program rollout, the press conference at Parliament House covered the latest COVID outbreak in Melbourne, which has led to a seven-day lockdown.
AMA President Dr Omar Khorshid said Australians could not be complacent about COVID-19 and should not delay getting vaccinated. He said the Melbourne lockdown was a “wake up call” for every Australian.
“The events of the last few days have demonstrated that Covid is a real and present threat to all of us,” he said.
