After nearly 140,000 healthcare workers received their first shots, it s now time for phase 1B as the Covid vaccine rollout continues. Next up the 2nd wave for seniors 65 and older, along with anyone who is over 16 with at least one chronic medical condition. Starting today, CVS, Walgreens and Managed Health Care Associates will all begin administering vaccines at long-term care facilities in Texas. According to recent data, more than 70% of COVID-19-related deaths in Texas were people 65 years and older. Brett Giroir of the White House Corona Virus Task Force told FOX it s going to vary state by state, but let me talk about Governor Abbott in Texas, he really is going to prioritize anyone over 65, because those are the people that go to the hospitals, not the 24 year old frontline worker. And according to the Texas Department Of State Health Services, roughly 27,000 nursing home residents need vaccine shots in Harris County. As for when everybody wi

LAKELAND Residents and employees at Polk County nursing homes will begin receiving shots containing the COVID-19 vaccine this week.
A team will arrive Tuesday at Florida Presbyterian Homes in Lakeland to deliver injections for residents and staff of the center’s skilled-nursing facility, CEO Joe Xanthopoulos said.
Xanthopoulos said his facility’s administrator received a call Thursday afternoon from a Walgreeens representative informing her of the schedule. But Xanthopoulos was disappointed to find out that residents and staff of the center’s assisted-living facility will not receive the first round of inoculations.
“The plan was that in this first phase they would be doing all long-term care, which meant assisted-living residents and staff as well as skilled nursing,” Xanthopoulos said Friday. “I think because they did not get enough vaccines at this point in time, this first run, this first clinic, is just for our skilled-care residents and staff.”
