Easter Service Watch: Good Friday sunrise flowering of the cross Church, government, civic leaders and health care workers gathered as the sun rose outside Addington Hospital for an Easter Service on Friday. A small gathering of 40 or so invited church, government, civic leaders and health care workers gathered in front of Addington Hospital as the sun rose on Good Friday to honour Health Care Workers in the absence of the traditional annual public Diakonia Council of Churches Good Friday Service and Procession due to Covid restrictions.  The sunrise Good Friday service and procession of the cross through the streets of the city has been a long held tradition in Durban attending by hundreds of people. However,  the advent of Covid-19 has meant that the event had to be reduced in size to comply with lockdown regulations that limit the number of people who may attend public gatherings.
