On the other hand, the Government of India on Friday stated that more than 1 crore coronavirus vaccine doses are still available with the states and UTs to be administered. They also said that nearly 20 lakh vaccine doses will also be received in addition by the states and UTs within the next three days.
They have so far provided 16.33 crore vaccine doses to states and UTs free of cost, as per the data from on Friday morning.
Phase-I was launched on January 16, 2021, which prioritized the protection of the Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Front Line Workers (FLWs).
Subsequently, phase-II was initiated from March 1 and April 1, which focused on protecting the most vulnerable, ie, everyone above 45 years of age.
CHANDIGARH: Haryana health minister Anil Vij on Saturday said the vaccination drive for the 18-44 age group will start in the state from Sunday.
Additional chief secretary Health Rajeev Arora said the state had sought 66 lakh vaccine doses which will be allotted in a phased manner. Covid vaccination of above 18 years of age to start in Haryana from tomorrow in all districts at the designated centers, Vij said in a tweet.
Arora said a total of 38,13,274 doses of the vaccine has been administered to the people of the state so far.
On the administration of vaccines to Health Care Workers (HCWs) and Frontline Workers (FLWs), Arora said 2,01,398 HCWs have got the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine and around 1,27,907 HCWs received the second dose.

May 1 Kaiser Permanente will lay off 200 workers from its workforce in Northern California as it changes up how some departments will operate, resulting in the need for fewer staff in some positions, according to a statement the company sent The Sacramento Bee Friday evening.
In the statement, company leaders said: Kaiser Permanente is continuing to grow. We continue to be one of the largest private employers in California with more than 149,000 employees and 16,000 physicians in the state. We continue to add jobs, with currently more than 2,300 open staff positions in the state.
