The number of Covid-19 outbreaks fell last week, including a marked reduction in the number seen in private houses
The Department of Health has been notified of 557 further cases of Covid-19, while 17 further deaths have been recorded.
The number in ICU stands at 83, which is down five from yesterday.
Nine of the deaths announced today occurred this month, while four occurred last month, and another four in January or earlier. Those who died ranged in age from 51 to 94.
There have now been 4,566 Covid-19 deaths in Ireland overall, with a cumulative total of 228,215 cases.
Of today s cases, 74% were under the age of 45, with a median age of 29.
There have been 3,484 reports of suspected side effects from COVID-19 vaccines administered in Ireland, the latest figures from the Health Products Regulatory Authority (HPRA) show.
The agency, which monitors the safety of medicines, said the most commonly reported side effects are in line with those typically associated with vaccinations such as headaches, muscle pain and nausea.
The HRPA also said there have been no reports of the side effects found by the Norwegian Medicines Agency, which led Ireland and some EU nations to temporarily suspend use of the AstraZeneca vaccine this week.
The HRPA has received around 3,484 reports of suspended side effects from coronavirus vaccines.
There have been 3,484 reports of suspected side effects relating to the Covid-19 vaccines in Ireland, the newest data from the Health Products Regulatory Authority shows.
In addition, the agency said that it has received a small number of reports associated with blood clots following vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine.
However, it has not received any reports of the nature of those described by the Norwegian Medicines Agency, which were brain clots.
The use of the AstraZeneca vaccine has been suspended in Ireland and various countries after the report from Norway.
In a statement, AstraZeneca said that: “An analysis of our safety data that covers reported cases from more than 17 million doses of vaccine administered has shown no evidence of an increased risk of pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis or thrombocytopenia with Covid-19 vaccine AstraZeneca.”
