COVID-19: ANAP, PUNCH, others collaborate to name, shame violators

A non-governmental organisation and COVID-19 Think Tank, Anap, says it is partnering with PUNCH and some other media houses to name and shame violators of the safety protocols put in place to curb the spread of the virus.
Anap noted that if adhered to, the safety guidelines would reduce the spread of the virus but that people, including influential persons, were openly flouting the rules.
In a statement signed by its chairman, Atedo Peterside and the vice chairman, Abubakar Mohammed, on Friday, Anap said other media houses like This Day newspaper, The Nation newspaper, BusinessDay newspaper, Vanguard newspaper, Daily Trust newspaper, Arise TV, Channels TV, Premium Times, The Cable and Classic FM had agreed to join the initiative.
According to the statement, the regulation is detailed and if adhered to, will go a long way at protecting Nigerians from the second wave and the more infectious strains of the virus.
“In furtherance of our objectives to promote behavioural change around managing the pandemic and ensuring effective stakeholder response to COVID-19, the Anap Think Tank announces our collaboration with the media to launch a ‘Name and Shame’ Initiative.
“The name and shame initiative will highlight the non-compliance of newsmakers by not covering events or denying media coverage of events where participants do not comply with the Health Protection Regulations; and spotlighting defaulters in the media”.
