FEMAT Field Hospital can cater for 90 beds and should be ready to treat COVID patients by tomorrow

The Fiji Emergency Medical Assistance Team Field Hospital will be ready to treat COVID patients by the end of this weekend.
Head of FEMAT Doctor Luke Nasedra says the facility will share the load with other facilities in the Central and Eastern Divisions where Fijians can be catered for during their recovery.
He says rows of hospital beds will be used to cater for moderate to severe cases.

The Ministry of Health has set up another COVID-19 swabbing drive-through site at the Suva Civic Centre.
Permanent Secretary for Health Doctor James Fong confirms that the drive-through in Suva is now in operation after the one set up at Vunimono High School in Nausori.
Doctor Fong had earlier said that they will continue to look at options to set up swabbing drive-through sites in other areas after assessing the safety guidelines.

FNU makes rooms and hostel available for frontliners

FNU Vice-Chancellor Professor Toby Wilkinson says they are putting two classrooms at their nursing campus at the disposal of the Health Ministry to help with their data processing and contact tracing operations.
He has also thanked students at the Kivi Hostel who have agreed to move rooms so that the Ministry of Health can use the hostel for frontline staff working at the CWM Hospital just across the road.
Wilkinson says this is a great example of public service and about putting the needs of our communities first.
