Health Minster Greg Hunt has praised the Greater Sydney and Northern Beaches communities for their response to the Avalon outbreaks and subsequent restrictions, saying a spike in testing rates and compliance is keeping the nation safe.
He told Sky News 68 cases had been linked to the Avalon cluster - as of 5am this morning - with Commonwealth testing clinics seeing a 700 per cent daily increase.
Mr Hunt thanked people in the affected regions for their “magnificent” response.
“In New South Wales we have not just, I think, Australian gold standard but global gold standard contact tracing,” he said.
